I have been posting here for a while, and I have that little black and yellow crested duckling that people thought was Ancona or perhaps a black swede mix or something. Well while I was holding him earlier today I noticed that he has iridescent green feathers growing in on his wings! What the heck??? Anyone have any clues as to what his breed might be now? I will run out and take some pics here shortly so you can see him now, and I will take a close up of the green feathers so you can see where they're growing in.

But I am baffled now that he has green coming in!

It's hard to see because the pics over exposed, but his chest has sprinklings and spots of black. Anyway, Here's pics:

Maybe he has magpie in him??? Not sure, he sure is pretty though!

BTW - do you happen to have any more pictures of your ducky and kitty playing? I saw your avatar and my mom doesnt believe me when I told her about it

Thanks for the response!

It's the green that throws me! I wondered about Ancona, not magpie really because the Hatchery does not have them. But none of the breeds I considered have green feathers. Could he be mixed with cayuga, or is there another breed with that shiny dark on the wings?

OH and I have more pics, let me find the thread I posted before with their pics, and you can see them all there, one sec!

, I Just ADORE those pictures! I mean a cat and a dog - not weird. A cat and a mouse - Not weird. A dog and a duck - Not weird.

But a cat and a duck? AWESOME!

Thank you! They are a funny little pair, but they're close as can be. Since we're getting into breeding season, Bella (the duck) has been a bit testy, and has been a bit nippy, so Monkey (the cat) is keeping his distance right now, but as soon as I catch them playing again, I am going to try to get better shots!

I guess that's true, I guess I was just surprised because the one's growing in at the end were SOOOO green! Did not know if this was diff. than just reg. black feathers or not.
