Green Mountain Ducks!

Welcome to BYC!

Do you have any pictures of your feathered loved ones? We have ducks here also, and just can't get enough of them. Most of our are still growing, but we do have some grown Pekins also.

The Ancona is Terry one of our drakes, and the Black Runner is Violet, our only black duck.
They’re beautiful! Mine would never let me cuddle with them like that lol

Welcome to BYC. Do they have a coop/pen where you feed, and if so could they be confined there each night until they have laid their eggs?
Hi! Yes we've done that before, confined them to the yard, but the issue is 1) the mess and 2) we've seen how much safer they are in the water. In the winter their pond was frozen except for one small portion where they spent most of their time, and we saw coyote tracks around that spot on several nights but at that time anyway didn't lose any birds. Most of the predators won't deal with birds in the water it seems. One seems to have figured out laying in a nest and she does that in the duck house for now (she likes to move nests around so we'll see) but the other one I think lays so early they're still in the pond.
