One of my quail is sick. I fear she will die. She is isolated already because she's a bully so I think the other quail are safe. Anyone know of home remedies for a lethargic quail that is not eating and having bright green droppings?

Bright green droppings are a sign of not eating. Do you have anything like Nutri-Drench or Save-a-Chick? That will give her a bit of an energy boost that might help her survive.

What have you been feeding her? What is her setup like? Do you have pictures?

I am picking up some Sav-A-Chick today and some other vitamin remedy drops. I feed her a mix of Nature Smart chick crumble, meal worms, millet, hulled sunflower seeds and cracked corn and occasional watermelon. She's in a section of a big coop that is 2 ft by 2 ft. She separated from the other birds by a screen. She can see them but she can't get at them. She almost pecked one of the eyes out of one of my other girls. I clean the coop every other day, so there shouldn't be an issue with cleanliness. She may be a bit stressed due to the weather we've been having - lots of rain and loud storms.

Start by eliminating the treats. She should be getting gamebird crumble. All of the other things are treats and shouldn't be more than 10% of her diet.

It looks like the Nature Smart chick crumble has 20% protein, so that's okay for an adult bird. Chicks need 28-30% protein.

@Nabiki Could it be that she's not eating out of loneliness? Does that ever happen when you seperate birds out, even if they're just screened off and can still see their flock?
I've never had that happen so I would think that's unlikely. Is she drinking? Has she been laying eggs? Is it possible she's egg bound? Pictures? How old is she?

@Nabiki is 'dead on' , too many 'treats' are bad for nutritional health of the bird. A complete and balanced feed ration should be provided.
As an example of how important it is to have a balanced poultry diet, quail, pheasants, guineas, turkeys, ducks, geese are unable to make the amino acids methionine and lysine (the building blocks of proteins), which means it is essential they have a diet with the proper amounts of those amino acids for their health and for proper egg production. Feeding improperly balanced diets including large amounts of chicken scratch and “scraps” can result in disease which can manifest into welfare issues and production deficiencies.

When a bird is egg bound, it may or may not be able to defecate, depending on the eggs proximity to the cloaca/ vent, and the size of the egg. If they are able to defecat, it will be watery and very small amount.

My girl has improved significantly. She's eating and drinking and moving around but her poop is still green, however now it's got texture and bits of what look like normal quail poop. She has not laid an egg in 2 days so she may be egg bound. She lays very large eggs, so I wouldn't be surprised.

If she were egg bound, she wouldn't be getting the texture in her poops and wouldn't be walking around eating.

I'm glad she's doing better.
