I have a three year old barred rock hen that is currently sick. She is having green diarrhea, she’s very lethargic not moving much. I got her to eat some earlier today strawberries and pineapple and she ate some fresh corn. I gave her some drops of Vetrx. I haven’t seen her drink anything today. She is currently quarantined. I spoke with our state vet for agriculture and he said it is likely not the bird flu. She makes a gurgling sound if stressed out, heavy breathing (after chasing her to grab her) but otherwise doesn’t make the noise. I lost a chicken to similar conditions in November. My hen that is currently sick has always been a sickly girl. She is much smaller than her sisters and she gets vent gleet multiple times a year. I went ahead and gave her an epsom salt bath and some monizole for vent gleet today just in case. Her vent seemed to have lumps on the inside that I haven’t noticed before.
She hasn’t laid eggs since she was a year old and of course she is my favorite chicken the sweetest one.
There are no vets around me that are seeing chickens anymore bc of the bird flu so I cannot get her any medication. And we are supposed to be snowed in for the next few days.
I don’t know what to do.
