We have a rooster with very green poop. He is eating scratch, not grass. He is very lethargic also. It is hot here in the 90s the past couple of days. He does still eat and drink, but he stands up and closes his eyes most of the time. He isn't quite a year old. He is a mutt cross between a white leghorn and a cochin bantam. One of my questions is, if he ate sevin dust like maybe a tablespoon full would it make him sick. I thought we might have mites or lice because several chickens have tails that look like they've been shredded. I put seven dust on the floor of his cage which is about 2 x3 feet. His food was in a feeder, but my son dumped it out into his cage. That was over a week ago. Is green poop a sign of coccidiosis? My son thought maybe that was what he has. We have 40 chickens and the rest seem ok. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The green poop is from high bile content meaning he is not eating as much as you think he is. I would check him over to see if he is clear of bugs and make sure his crop feels like it should. Has he been wormed lately?

I've never wormed our chickens. Should that be done regularly if they free range? I did check many of our chickens for mites/lice including him and did it at night with a flashlight...nothing there. Thanks for your suggestion. What do I worm with and how much?
