Hello everyone! I am way new here, less than a month. I'm very thankful sites like this one exist, as I am learning so much about keeping chickens. My screen name is mamacluck, but I don't have my babies, yet. Right now we're still somewhat in the planning stage. We have a huge (5'x6'x7') shipping/storage crate that we will (hopefully) turn into our coop. We are limited to six hens, and I think I've almost decided on which breeds I want to get for our flock.

Just wanted to introduce myself and say a big THANK YOU to all those who share their knowledge for the rest of us!

Welcome to the BYC flock, glad you joined us. You may be interested in the coops section - a lot of folks have made coops are of large shipping containers, pallets, etc. Sometimes you can score nice items off of Craig's list - like dog runs, or large dog houses, people often, are giving away their coops with chicken included.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there that will keep you from making beginners' mistakes. :o) Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your flock.

I believe they are Polish. They are SOOO adorable! Don't know if I'll ever have any, but they are cute to look at!

I have a polish girl right now, she is a bit skittish and sometimes flighty but its because her floof stops her form seeing super well (but she can see better than my Silkie! Lol!) They make pretty good pets and are amazingly fun to look at!

Thanks for the warm welcomes! Will definitely check out the learning center. And there are so many cool looking coops here, it's hard to decide which I want to model after. I'm going to have to decide what I want to pull from each one that I like and somehow write it out, like on draft paper. I'm one of those who likes to have things uber organized and on paper before starting a big project like this. Don't want to have to build it twice! Or get in the middle of it and wonder, "Now *how* are we going to fix that!"
