Greens for chickens??

Our flocks get anything and everything from the gardens. For Fall and Winter, they love greens like lettuce, collards, kale, etc - and cole crops like brocolli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts.

Yesterday I tossed a 'spent' brussel sprout plant to a group of 25 pullets. They devoured it in less than 30 minutes, stalk and all!

Lots of other great ideas already shared. We raise a market garden and sell at local markets. Our flocks eat garden scraps of all kinds year round. (Although there's less at this time of year.) They love it all...squashes, tomatoes, beans & peas, greens, etc.

Ours are quite a bit picker about root crops though...carrots, potatoes, sweet potaoes, turnips. They only liked thse cooked soft.

but How do I hang a head of cabbage for the girls and how high or low do I hang it ?
Thanks everyone for all the help I'm fairly new at raising chickens but I do love it taking care of them watching them grow Kind of like my kids without the potty training

some folks just thread a string through it. I happen to have one of those ball cap dryers..you know the kind you put a ball cap into to dry after washing it? I hang that in there about chest high to the chickens. I put the cabbage inside it. They can devour one in one day.
