Greens

Do i nedd to give my girls some sort of greens?!?!? If so what is a good thing to use?

We give ours leftover veggies and also an occasional head of cabbage. As long as they are on a good food you don't need to supplement greens ... but sometimes it's fun to.

It's winter so no grass or weeds here. I do the leftover veggies and pick up some bagged spinach when it's on sale.

I mix alfalfa pellets in with my layer pellets. They love them and my egg yolks are nice, dark orange color.

Do you free range your birds?

Cabbage is cheap.
One head a week sems like enough to keep the hens happy and the egg yolks dark.
But they alo get a lot of cracked corn for calories to keep them warm in the winter.
