We do a garden every year, and during the winter, Collards are a perfect snack for my chickens. Now it's time to start all over with the garden, and I was wondering what would be a good green to grow for them in the Spring/Summer?

What green do you prefer to give your chickens?

And do you buy them or grow them?

Thanks!

What ever is growing in the lawn err chicken pasture. Besides a few varieties of grass there is dandelions, chickweed, clover and a host of other "weeds" there. From my garden they get things like old lettuce, beet tops etc. I'm not one to grow things just for the birds when they can get their own greens.

I enjoy gardening, and we do a large garden every year for the family, so adding a few things for the chickens is no problem. Also, I have some Silkies in a pen, and on days that I don't have time to free range them, it would be helpful.
