Hi everyone, just checking out BYC for the first time.. Seems like a really great sight for beginners like us. We are a family of 4 from CT. We just started our little Chicken Family, and are very excited !!! Our daughter is turning two, and it might sound pretty funny but.. We got her, her very own little chicken coop for her birthday. A neighbor down the road has several chickens, and in passing our daughter seemed to take an interest in them. So we figured, we would add 7 baby chicks to our growing family.. We have only had our chicks for a couple days now but, we are so in love with them. Our local pet store had 6 different breeds to choose from. So we had to have at least one of each. We have a RI Red, a NH Red, a Black Australorp, a Buff Orpington, an Americana, and two Barred Rocks.. If they had more, I'm sure we would have gotten them too.. I am a stay at home mom of two children, whom both are under the age of two. So I am home all day, trying to find things to do.. So adding these little chicks, should keep me very busy. LOL.. My husband has been trying to google all types of information on all our breeds but, I find it better to get info from people who have had them themselves. So any helpful hints on any of these breeds, or any tips would be great..
