Hi there!

My name is Vicki and I'm from south coast NSW, Australia. My boyfriend and I hatched a bunch of eggs in January via an incubator. Out of about 14 eggs, 8 hatched and 1 died upon hatching. Of the 8, 4 turned out to be hen's and 4 roosters. They're all cross breed leghorn of some type! (I dont really know my chickens yet) bar one of the roosters is a silkie bantom ^^

The three leghorn type roosters sadly had to be chopped as no one wanted them. They crowed quite alot, and so had to be done. We now have a special *rooster veggie patch*! The Bantom is way do fluffy and cute to chop so i protested! (He was allowed to live because he doesnt crow very much, and is also unrealated to the hens) Because of his skittish nature and funny look, he was named 'Rabies'!

The four hens: the first to hatch stomped all over the other eggs hours before any others arrived, we so named 'Arnie' (after Arnold Schwarzenegger) Arnie is also our 'Special chook' she falls asleep in your arms as soon as she's picked up and is also a little cross eyed so glad she was a hen! Then there is 'Imposter' because she looks like Arnie! And 'Charlie' named after a chicken shaped easter egg

And 'Penny' after Henny Penny! Penny is also the only red head ^^

In August we hatched another batch for my boyfriends mum. We kept them in a brooder until they were feathered enough to go to her place

Then in October when we went to visit my boyfriend fell in love with one we named 'Flop' so we decided to bring her back with us. Unfortunately all our chooks hate her and constantly peck at her. She's now rather terrified to be around any chickens and gets come inside with us quite often. At one point she even got part of her eye lid pecked off

She's been here for almost a month and a half and they still peck at her... Is that normal?

Anyways, thats all about our chickies! (That we call 'Dookin's)

The special chook, Arnie when she was younger.. she always has a 'derp' face when you take photos in your arms!

The Silkie Bantom Rooster 'Rabies' (he likes to pose for photos!) We trimmed his head fluff back so he could see better, worked too!

Our newest addition, 'Flop'! you can kind of see the damaged eye lid in this pic.
