Well thanks for your willingness to help everyone. To answer a previous question... I know we have silkies and I am not 100% sure of the other hens..(one in coop and 2 runaways) but they seem to be white with brown head, pinkish face. I hope I am not too wrong with the name but possibly Auracana? Lol yes I googled it but forgot the name. Any tips on how to get them back in the coop?

***UPDATE***

In the case of man vs chicken....MAN WON!

My wife and I had to recruit her father to man the cord that would close the door from across the yard because these hens are SMART! But after a long round of chicken-

-roundup, the runaway hens are safe and sound in the coop along with the rooster that we let free range thinking he would draw them back in...which backfired. But they are in and we shall continue on this chicken farming adventure. Thank you for all of your encouragement knowing that everything would be A-OK....or at least making us believe that.

Yay!!

Keep them locked in the coop for nearly a week. Do not let them out. This will teach them where home is and they will from now on, return to the coop to sleep and lay.

Thanks for the update!!!
