(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I just got chickens in May, on Cinco De Mayo.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I have eight hens. I love them!
(3) What breeds do you have? Bielefelders, Rhode Island Reds, Ameraucanas, and Sapphire Gems.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I like bonding with them and spending time with them.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Reading, writing poetry, gardening, and enjoying nature and wildlife.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I just moved from Pittsburgh, PA to an old 1800s farmhouse in Northwestern Pennsylvania that my husband and I are renovating. We plated a small orchard to grow our own fruits. I have four cats. Silas, Pandit, Issabella, and Luna... and of course, my 8 hens: Pancake, PeeWee, Baby, PopEye, Falca, Ospera, Smokey, and Puffin.
