Greetings from Ádánd, Hungary

I retired to Hungary from the UK after working for 27 years in the railway industry. Having always lived in the city, I really wanted to live in the country - and raise chickens. We currently have 9 - not yet at the laying stage - and I am amazed at the things they get up to.

I found BYC a couple of weeks ago and have found a great many ideas and tips here. I especially like the Learning Centre - I have a LOT to learn! Thank you, and long may this site continue...

Welcome to you way over there in Hungary!!! How blessed you are to be living your dream and sharing it with your girls. What kind of Chickens are you raising? I have 5 Americana's, 3 Buff Orpington's, 2 Plymouth Barred Rocks, a Buff Bramha, a white Cochen, a Rhode Island Red and a large black Cochen Rooster. So that is a total of 14 chickens.

I agree this forum is a plethera of information and especially if you have an emergency and can't get to a vet, you can always count on someone being online to help you out. These folks are amazing.

All I can say is love those girls, reward them with many left over veggies and they will reward you for a very long time with their wonderful, delicous and nutritous eggs.

R.I.P. Marcy, she passed away a week and a half ago. I still keep looking for her thinking she'll come around the corner when I call her. Love you girl.
