Hiya!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I first had chickens when I was a teenager, so these birds are the first I've had in a decade, but this is my first attempt at urban chickens!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? The house came with 8 hens in about 3 flocks, but the previous owners didn't tell us anything about them!
(3) What breeds do you have? We have 2 Rhode Island Reds, 3 Americauna-types, a white hen that lays blue eggs (and hangs out with the caunas), a Speckled Sussex, and a Buff Orpington.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I just really enjoy having birds as pets, and my allergies make indoor birds a bad idea. The eggs are a bonus.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Spinning and crochet for the most part, but I dabble in most yarn crafts.
I've been lurking for years, but realizing my favorite (the Buff Orpington) is a huge bully has made me finally join because I need to figure how to break her of that fast. She keeps locking the Rhodies out of coop at night until the autodoor closes!
