Hey everybody,

Going to be building my own coop and starting out with a few hens (3). My sister transmitted the bug on to me, and after my landlord suggested I try to raise some I'm going to give it a shot. The coop I have planed will be attached to my pole barn with a 10X20 run off the side. going to have some newbie questions to start I'm sure. Thanks in advance for all the future support.

Hi and Welcome!!!

Sounds like a nice big run. Plenty for about 20 chickens....'cuz ya know chooks are like potato chips, hard to stop with just a few!!
How cool that it was your landlord to suggest you get chickens.

Yeah we got on on the topic of livestock he had just butchered some piggys and offered us bacon. Our house sits on 3.5 Acres and he wants as much crap on the land as he can get (less grass to cut for him lol) The pole barn at one point held at least one horse so its pretty big (I dug an old bridle sp? out of the floor which may have been some sort of sawdust). He lets us have as many animals as we want because we are EXTREMELY clean we have 3 dogs a cat and 3 ferrets.
