Greetings From Canada!

Hey everyone! My name is Vi and I've been doing meat chickens for a few years now. This is my first year doing egg chickens, and I'm liking the idea of keeping some chickens past the summer. It's unfortunately been a bad year for the farm, but I'm determined to keep as many of my chickens alive as possible.


Here's my chicken coop for my egg chickens so far! Due to my fascination with old farm structures, this coop was inspired by a classic red barn.





Most of these are my meat chickens, but that brown one in there is going to be moving into the coop as soon as it's done! I haven't named her yet, but one will come eventually!

I love this site and I can't wait to contribute to this incredible community!

Hi Vi, welcome to Backyard chickens. Are some of your birds able to climb that ladder to the top? I get nose bleeds just looking up that high.

Haha, no. It's still under construction! I bet a ladder would be cool, though. I wonder how that would work for roosting.

I haven't actually seen that thread yet, but I will be sure to check it out!
