I have been browsing the site for weeks now and finally joined. We are building our coop and looking forward to getting some birds at the end of Feb. I am having a hard time deciding what breeds and where to get them. We want them for eggs and pets as well. I have thought about Silkies, for our climate, and their temperament. Not sure if I can have them with other breeds. I also dont want to get them from some big box store hatchery. I am having such a hard time finding a local source.
