Greetings from Colorado Springs CO

Hello to all.

I'm looking into getting some BYC. In research phase right now making sure this is something I really want to dive into. Loads of questions...coops? breeds? feed? What do chickens do in the cold and snow? loads of questions.

Going to have a giant flock or 3-4 hens. I like the little bantam ones, wife likes the ones with big eggs....ah marriage ; )
Bet we get 3 "big" ones and 1 small one for me.

Little worried about my lawn...it's nice and I like it that way. Posted about that in the behavior forum.
By the time I build a coop and pick my breeds it will probably be spring of next year before I actually have birds.

Welcome to BYC! It's a great resource for getting your questions answered. We have a chicken tractor we move daily and while you can tell where the chickens have been (poop and some shavings) it meets my husband's requirements for the lawn and he's pretty picky as far as a green (albeit organic so with some non-grass green stuff mixed in) lawn. Enjoy the research and chickens!
