Although I grew up with chickens and many farm animals as a child, my husband and I got our first flock last year. We started with 9 Road Island Reds from my grandfathers flock last year and now have 8 reds 13 Brahmas and 1 giant Jersey (we think) rooster. Our children enjoy them and we feel it helps give them a small understanding of where some of our food comes from. I am super excited to join this site as we always have questions it seems!
