Hello all!

I live in Elverta, California. Small dinky rural town outside Sacramento, CA. Love it here! Quiet!

My brand new husband of 4 months built me a coop after our wedding. We moved out to the country to get away from police choppers and traffic in the suburbs. (Yes, there are traffic jams on suburban streets. Sad, I know.) My wish was to move out to the country and get chickens. And look-- it happened!

My extent of keeping chickens up until 4 months ago was a. in 6th grade my friend raised chickens for a since fair experiment. (This was considered awestriking for a city kid) b. I knew someone when I was in college who showed chickens for 4H. She was a little girl but explained to me all about chickens breeds. THAT'S IT!

So, here I am. I currently have 7 chickens. Already my flock and changed three times in 4 months. I started with 5 hatchlings hens, but 2 months in I lost 3 of my original chickens that I raised to ....????? I had a housesitter that weekend and anything could have happened. So, I bought 3 hens at the feed store to replace the 3 I lost. They integrated and all was fine. Except the Silikie I bought very clearly presented himself as a rooster. All still would have been fine. Except, I really wanted a bantam. Along comes Ginormous the old English bantam. Couple more days of bickering and everyone settles down. Then this MLK Day weekend, I decided I really wanted a Maran. I real Maran, not some mix breed funny looking one. So, off I go again. I found a breeder and got a BCM yesterday and while I was at it bought a cute Silkie female. Now, the coupe won't hold all these guys. So, the white Silkie rooster got returned to the feed store and the Maran and Silkie are in. Hweeeewww....

Currently I have:
1 brown/white Ameraucana- Henrietta
1 blue Ameraucana- Bluie
1 black Ameraucana mix with ??? - Blackie
1 Deleware - Wilhimena
1 Old English Bantam- Ginormous
1 Black Silkie- Uge (Pronounced ohhh-G-E long G and E)
1 Black Copper Maran- Pudding

As you can all see. They are pets. The chances of them making it into the stew pot is well...... nil. Once you name them, they can't be eaten!

I also have a black lab. She is a seizure response dog for me and my Service Dog. And people always ask, "Can you take her anywhere?" Yes, I can take her into stores and the mall. She is pretty special.

We have a yellow lab. Toby. Toby ate 1 pound of butter the week before Christmas. (Yes, that would be 4! Count them! 4! sticks of butter.) Needless, to say he is pretty special.

I have a small Shih Tzu name Xyloh. She was a stray and is a sweetie pie.

I have a parrot named Sunny. She is a Myers Parrot and can be pretty loud. She is in love with my husband. Wants to take him as a mate!

We also have reptiles, but that is whole other story. Mostly lizards.

PS Ginormous is the name of my old English Bantam hen. My husband saw her and said, "Wow that is Ginormous!" So there you go!

Thanks for reading!
