Welcome to BYC!! I love the cute names you gave your chickens ! sounds like a precious and beautiful flockHello from Florida! I'm 4 months in to my chicken keeping journey. I'm learning so much and loving it so far! I have a small flock of 6 chickens:
My favorite part about the experience has been seeing how each has such a distinct personality. It's so entertaining to sit with them in the evenings and listen to their chicken chatter. Both Cochins and 1 of the Brahmas will happily fly up and sit on my lap, which I just love. It never gets old.
- Waffles: Partridge Silkie pullet (10 months)
- Prim: White Silkie hen (1.5 years)
- Suki: Black Cochin pullet (4 months)
- Comet: Buff Cochin cockerel (4 months)
- Chickpea: Dark Brahma pullet (4 months)
- Calypso: Light Brahma pullet (4 months)
They're all being raised as pets, although the eggs will be an added benefit! I am still waiting on that first shiny egg and will be elated when it finally happens. Fingers crossed for any day now!
Aside from the chickies, I live with my husband, 2 dogs, rabbit, and guinea pig on about 1/4 acre. Our small backyard flock is the perfect size for our space.
I'm excited to be here and continue learning as I go!
