(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Greetings from Germany! We have chickens and indian runner ducks since 2016. Unfortunately, we lost all our 5 chickens and 3 ducks a few years ago due to a fox attack. After a two-year break, we now have new ducks in the garden.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

We have 5 ducks in our garden.

(3) What breeds do you have?

Funny story - we bought the ducks some days ago as Indian Runner Ducks. Obviously this is not right. I guess these ducks are Welsh Harlequin - but I need help in indentification.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Ducks are the sweetest, funniest und cutest animals on the earth.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

We are 5 people (me, my wife and three kids) + grandma und grandpa living in Germany near Frankfurt with a big garden (~1700qm).

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

I tried to use chatgpt for indentification of the duck breed. ChatGPT refered the answer to BYC.

Welcome to BYC. I don't know ducks but I would imagine they have runners in their because of their upright stance. Could they possibly be a mixed breed?

We've been raising silkie chickens for around 9 years, and recently got a pair of ducklings dropped off here. They sure grow fast and are so entertaining!
