Hi everyone!
I'm Ruth, and we're in the process of incubating and hatching our first few chickens! In town we're technically allowed up a dozen or so but we're just starting with four eggs. We have three Ameraucana eggs and one barnyard mix (very, VERY mixed LOL). We got them from a very sweet, naturally-minded family north of town. Hopefully a couple of them will be hens! The kids are so excited and I think this is an awesome science project for my almost-kindergartner.
We decided to do this and just kind of dove in head first, so I'm busy reading through all the n00b articles here on BackYard Chickens. Our neighbor is also a killer carpenter so I may try to talk him into making us a super nice coop.
Looking forward to learning more from everyone!
