Welcome!
I am from KY also. I LOVE silkies and plan on having lots of sizzle running around. I have been learning a lot over the past year, literally less than a year, since I start this hobby.
I have had some problems with killer dogs and a raccoon or two but I have prepared for these things now.

I am expecting 16 eggs tomorrow, silkies form FL (red and gray) and sizzles from TN. I can't wait. I have my incubator all set and ready to go.

I currently have two sizzle roos, two silkie hens, a pair of black polish who are buddies with the silkies and an mating pair of white silkies that I plan on mixing up when I have some chicks.

I have a little area I call "Camp Critter"; I have a pot belly pig named PETA, two pigmy goats, Patches and Babe, two fantail pigeons, and my chickens.

I don't think that is that much but I also have indoor pets. :-)

This is my sizzle, I had named Dorothy because I thought she was a hen but now he is a rooster!! Both of my sizzles are roosters! My smooth sizzle was killed by the crazed dogs!! This is the one the dogs killed!! She was a very friendly and sweet hen!!

This is PETA's house. A neighbor has left this in the woods and they let me have it... I stained it, added some wood and decorations. Home Sweet Home!

If you ever want to trade silkies, I would love a KY connection.

:-)

Hello there neighbor. I am in Henderson. Do you know where that is? Where are you? I am dealing with two dogs that are not mine this morning. My Maremma is not doing his job. grrr. He is only a year old but still, he needs to get after em! I have eggs in a little giant and am adding eggs daily to every other day. Now there are 10 total but I think one is no good. I'm going to go with an idea that another poster had and that's a no lockdown way. After the first 21 days, I'll have eggs hatching daily. Would love to trade! If these egg hatch and I see that I can do it, Im going to get show quality birds.

Hi, yes, I kind of know where Henderson is...
good luck with you hatch!! It has been a learning experience! I've had some really terrible batches because my humidity was too high! Right now I have 17 eggs in the incubator at 50% humidity and currently running 100-102 degrees in a still air incubator... I have no fan and I've read a little bit higher temps for still air. I've had these eggs shipped from TN and FL.
A variety of silkie colors and sizzles. Feb. 21st will be my big hatching day!
I'll post pics of my success... hopefully!
