Hello, and welcome! Happy to have you here. We have the predator issue here, as well. I moved from Michigan to Maine, and the predators here ..ridiculous. I agree with the surprising personalities. These birds are so fun to watch, and interact with. There was a time I was afraid of birds.... Now, I can't get enough. I wish you luck, and keep posting!Hello everyone! I've been reading and learning from the forums for a few months now as I'm in the midst of beginning my backyard chicken journey. I am currently raising 4 chicks -- a Light Brahma, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Golden Laced Wyandotte and an Americana. They're about 4 weeks old right now and are full of so much curiosity. I've been pleasantly surprised by how much personality they have and how individual they each are. Looking forward to being able to move them outside soon because they're very rambunctious!
We're hoping to be able to free range them once they're bigger (inside our large fenced in yard). We live in the woods, so I'm wary of hawks and owls during the day. Right now we're making a safer area for them in a fenced in area with aviary fencing on the top (they have a secure coop for sleeping).
