Truly a place where chickens don't belong, I have built a "Winter Palace" to shield my girls from the cold and predators. My spring starters are 4 Light Brahmas, 2 Auracanas and 2 Buff Orpingtons. Working frantically to keep water flowing this winter but so far so good.

 
Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Wow, that's a gorgeous coop you've built. Thanks for posting the pics. :o) My only concern is; if you have any predators in your area (dogs, cats, foxes, coons, possums, coyotes, weasels, minks, rats, snakes, etc.), I would strongly suggest replacing that chicken wire with hardware cloth as there are just too many predators that can either tear through the chicken wire, or squeeze through the openings in the mesh. Wow! Awesome coop design! X2 on the hardware cloth! I'm trying to figure out why "chicken wire" is even sold!! It should be renamed "chicken dinner wire".

Wow, love your coop! The way you did the roof must let a lot of light inside and the covered ramp is nice for your birds. Chickens are pretty hardy, they are kept all over the world (even upper MI, lol). If you'd like to meet others from MI, you can find them here on your state thread:
