Hi everybody! I've creeped this site for a long time but finally joined today. My husband, 8yr old son, & I live on my families' farm with my Grandparents. They've always had cattle, Angus mostly. My Grandma has had some chickens throughout the years, as a....collection. She didn't pay much attention to them, fed them cracked corn & let them forage. We got our first peeps in the spring & have changed the old girls' routine all around as well.
So, we now have approximately 35 chickens, at least 6 of which are roosters; 4 ducks, 2 Swedish & 2 Rouens - we think; 2 Australian Shepherds; a slew of cats; & 11 Black Angus crosses. We'd like to get Alpacas someday...maybe some goats, & my son has now just started talking about a pig...
In a "previous life" I was a nurse. I got tired of bureaucracy dictating how to care for my patients. I walked away from it. One day I may return, but for now I'm content as a grocery store cashier. I love talking with all the people I meet! I also am a Pure Romance consultant, which is an amazing career.
We're involved in Cub Scouts, school organizations, soccer...typical family!
I chose FatBottomGirls as my screen name because that's what I call our 6 hens.
I'm so happy to be here!
