,

I am an owner of (currently) 6 beautiful chickies who slowly growing up. We currently house them in a medium sized, 2 floor chicken coop and are in the process of building a nice caged area for them to forage around and be safe. We bought them from Dodge Grain in Salem, NH, built a custom made cage where we kept them in the house and are slowly weaning them to be outside.

This seems to be one of the more popular and more populated forums on chickens, so it made sense to join in and absorb all the knowledge around here. I hope to be able to learn a lot about chickens, as this is my first time raising a flock of my own.

Thanks for having me.

Regards,
Luuka

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Yes, this is the place to be when you own poultry! We are just bursting at the seams with knowledge!

Definitely stop by our learning center. Mountain Peeps has left you with the link.

Great to have you aboard and welcome to our flock!

Thank you, Mike. I'm not too sure on what the breeds are. I was too excited to get them to write that down, but I believe I have 2 Rhode Island Reds, at least. I will try to get pictures of them and post them later to see if I can get some help figuring that out. I bought them in 1-2-3 numbers, so 1 yellow chick 2 reds, and 3 black spotted. The yellow one, Larkspur has two extra toes higher up on her legs, and feathers all the way down the legs to the claws. I believe the extra toes are part of the breed.

Great, I'll look forward to seeing your pictures and maybe we can figure out what kind of chickens they are. Good luck with your flock.

Hello and welcome!! Good luck with your flock and building their coop. As Mike said please post pics of your chickens we share pics a lot here. It is the best way to help with issues or questions.
