Greetings from North Carolina!

I live in NC and while we are in our mid and late 60’s, we have begun a little homesteading! Are we crazy?? 😂 we have had a garden for several years but are adding chickens this year! We have 13 in a brooder tank in our all purpose room inside our home. We are in the process of building a rather complex coop, which won’t be ready by the time these babies are ready, so we will have to improvise! I will need lots of help and advice from you seasoned chicken veterans! If you have any advice for me as a chicken newbie, fire away!!
I look forward to meeting and chatting with you!
Howdy fellow Tarheeler! I'm in Pitt County, east of Raleigh.

I'm 62, and raising chicks again after some 30 odd years. And I have learned so much in the last few months by using this site, it's incredible.

Where are you? Location matters so answers to your ❓ and suggestions can be based upon the climate. Here we're hot and steamy in the summer, only an occasional snowfall in the winter. I built a hoop coop mostly by myself.

What types of chicks did you get?
