I live in North Maine on Moosehead Lake. I just started raising Rhode Island Reds and a Rooster of unknown breed this past April. My birds are stickily layers and the Roo is their "guard dog." I've learned a lot in a short time - lost my first Roo to a weasel -- he did a great job defending the girls -- not one was injured. Lost one RIR to a dog (mine) -- she got into my dog's pen and that was the end of her. I love these creatures -- they are a joy to watch!

Moosehead Lake? Awesome! I go camping there every year at Lily Bay State Park, and I study these ducks that I call the Swedish Hybrids of Moosehead Lake there! Huge welcome to BackYard Chickens!
