I just discovered this site today while searching for answers on hatching chicks! {They're hatching as we speak!!}
This is the first time we've hatched eggs, but not our first time w/ chickens. Last summer my husband & I raised 33 grass-fed chickens in my in-laws' backyard. My husband processed all but two - we saved one hen & one rooster in the hopes of getting some eggs! Our hen did start laying eggs, but we had no luck incubating those {possibly they weren't fertilized, but more likely it didn't work due to our use of a homemade incubator}.
A dairy farmer at church kindly let us use her "real" incubator and she even gave us a dozen or so fertilized eggs from her own chickens.
I look forward to meeting fellow chicken enthusiasts & learning from others' experience!
