I've been getting all kinds of great advice from this website for a year now, so I finally took the plunge and joined in. We are new to raising backyard chickens but we are enjoying them so much that they have become part of the family. That might be a problem if they have to go to freezer camp! So far, we have in our flock 4 Buff Orpingtons, 4 Rhode Islands, 2 Silver Pencilled Wyandottes, 1 Chantecler, 2 Silver Speckled Hamburgs , 1 Moutled Houdan and 1 white Roo that was supposed to be a Chantecler but has mutton chops and greenie/grey legs. We have 4 eastern wild turkey/ bronze turkey crosses and I change my mind daily about whether they are hens or toms. Time will tell, I guess. In addition to our poultry family, we have 2 dogs, 4 cats oh! and there are 3 kids running around here too. Hoping to add some Emben geese next year, some goats and a couple of beehives. That's all about us! Thanks for welcoming us to your community and thanks so much for all the helpful advice. I'm looking forward to more of it.
