Greetings from Oak Harbor, WA

Greetings, neighbor! Hubby's been stationed here for 6 years, 2 more to go for 20. Go Navy!

I'm down in Rolling Hills and have a bunch of birds. I'd be happy to help you network and get setup.

See you backchannel!

Thanks again. Just found out it is ok to have chickens within the city limits as long as you dont eat the eggs..lol

Thats like saying it's ok to have a boat but you can't fish from it.

Yakibert,

I spoke with Animal Control and their take is that if you admit to eating the eggs or using the fertilizer, then you have livestock and cannot keep chickens. However, if you have the chickens as pets and assure AC that you do not eat the eggs or use the fertilizer, then as long as neighbors do not complain, you can keep them. No roosters, though.

They admit, its a stupid situation and they try to leave chicken keepers alone. They wish the law would change, but someone would have to fight for it.

Welcome! Sorry to hear about the rule of not eating the eggs! How silly! Where I live, the only problem is having a noisy rooster...good thing I only have girls.
