:celebrate Hello everyone, I miss my Mom (RIP 1989); once enjoyed helping her with her backYard chickens. I have decided to get back into this venture to add to my organic greens and berries/figs in the my backyard. I can no longer worry about the ingredients of each egg I consume, therefore, I must rely on myself to provide. I am currently looking to purchase 12-16 week pullets in April, possibly sooner in the western pa/ eastern OH area

Good to meet you. We always had chickens when I was a kid and got my own just weeks before my dad passed. I so wished I could have asked him more about what I should have been doing with mine.

Luckily, the folks at BYC have done a great job of educating me! I started out thinking it was all about having farm-fresh, healthy eggs. But, along way, I fell in love with chickens, ducks and geese, and became part of a great, caring community.

Welcome to BYC!

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Sorry about your mom. :hugs This is the place to be for all the fun and learning! Make yourself at home here and ask any questions you may have. Welcome aboard! :-)

Hi! :frow Welcome to BYC! What a nice way to honor your memory of your mom. I think you'll love having backyard chickens! And yes, the eggs will be excellent.

I'm curious as to why you want to buy 12-16 week pullets and not day old chicks. Do you know what breeds you want?
