In the Brooder
Hi there, hope you are all doing well!
Hubby & I had worked with our town back in January 2020 to finally permit residents to have backyard chickens. With a couple acres property, we figured why not!? Always wanted chickens but never saw the right timing before.
So at this time, we have 3 hens that I believe are Black Cooper Marans. We got them in June 2020, they were about 4 1/2 months old.
At first I tough they would be live stock, and not regarded as actual "pets". Boy was I ever wrong!! They captivated and melted my heart within 24 hrs... I can (and have at times) observed them for hours without the slightest boredom.
All 3 have their own very distinct personality traits and they are quite comical to interact with.
During the year before we got our fluff balls, I would spend hours reading up on here. Yep, I am one of those who likes to be ubber prepared before jumping into uncharted territory. This forum has helped us so much in preparing for their arrival and their care ever since. After all this time spent here, it is about time I start mingling and sharing this amazing experience we had with those fascinating lil creatures for the past 8 months or so.
A lil info about us; We have one child. He is currently enrolling in the military... I feel the "empty nest syndrome" will be knocking on my door soon. =\
We have one dog (a 5 year old GSP girl) and one cat (a 7 year old snowshoe girl), both with us since they are babies.
Cheers!
