Such beautiful birds! So sorry for your losses. That had to be devastating! 1/2" hardware cloth keeps everything out, but maybe not a bear. They haven't tried ours yet.

Yes I have several coops/runs, some I've used for years. But all of the sudden I have super smart raccoons that are finding weaknesses. I've been trapping and relocating one raccoon every day or so. Kinda strange I haven't had this much trouble in the past.

I never had a raccoon problem until last year. I saw prints for years but didn't see any day time activity. Last year one of my neighbors started leaving cat food out for them. Next thing I know they are on my back porch at night and then one showed up and took a hen during mid day. I ended up locking everyone in their runs for a few weeks.
