In the Brooder
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?Hi! This will be our 2nd round with chickens. The first was a few years ago. A project at my daughters’ school resulted in lots chicks needing a home. We took the leap, brought home 3. Learned a lot and had lots of fun. We had them for almost 3 years. Unfortunately, we underestimated the reality of the predators in the area...lesson learned. We (DH) will be building a much more secure open air coop.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 3 arriving in the next few weeks.
(3) What breeds do you have? Ordered a Silver Laced Wyandotte, Black Australorpe and an Easter Egger.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Eggs are nice, and Chicken TV of course!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening. I’m not the best at it, but it’s very relaxing and keeps me busy.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. 2 girls-very excited about getting new hens. Husband-not as excited, but happy to make us happy! Cat -19y/o, Hedgehog 3 y/o, a few fish, and our latest addition- a dwarf hamster.
