Hi everyone! I'm excited to join this community and share/learn more about chickens. I've always been around chickens growing up but once I started college I forgot about them. I finally decided to go back to them and since I don't have a ranch I stated with bantams. I got 6 of them during Easter at tractor supply. I told the employee to just pick 2 white chicks, 2 black ones, and 2 red ones since those were the only colors they had. Well it was the luck of the draw because they ended being a male/female pair for each one. The white ones ended up being White Leghorns, the black ones are Black Cochins, and the red ones ended being Speckled Old English. They aren't a year old yet, and all three hens currently have chicks. Unfortunately, the Black Cochin Roo was the dominant male and all the chicks are black with feathers on their feet. I'll post pictures once they develop their adult plumage. I found out about BYC when I was searching for something on google. As for some of my other hobbies, I like to work on my yard/house, vehicle maintenance, and occasional gardening.

G’Day from down under Robert :frow Welcome!

I have 5 little bantam girls who I thoroughly adore :love No boys allowed! LOL

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has Topic of the Week articles which I have found to be a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

Yes, please do share Pictures and Stories of your flock! BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome. I adore my children even though they already grown up and having kids of their own. Can't believe I'm a grandparent already. LOL I still remember them being little things in a box with a light, and in the middle of the night I would go check on them and see them sleeping.
