I'm kind-of new to BackYard Chickens. Meaning, I've been a member for a few years, but hadn't really introduced myself and would just read through others posts to gleam important information. So here it goes!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I started keeping chickens about 3 years ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Started with 3...then added 3 more, lost 2, added several more, now I have about 2 dozen. Chicken Math! It happens!
(3) What breeds do you have?
I love having a diverse flock! They are all so pretty, so I have a wide range of breeds: Barred Rock; New Hampshire Red; Black Australorp; Americauna; Light Brahma; Auracana; Gold Laced Wyandotte; Silver Laced Wyandotte; Buff Brahma; Cuckoo Marren; Welsummer
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Searching for information.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love to garden and recently got into beekeeping. When I'm not at home with all of the FluffyButts (dogs, chickens and bees) I love to be at the beach.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My youngest daughter left for college about 3 years ago, so I needed something to take up my time. How I got into chickens is still a surprise!
My husband and I have 6 acres in the country and we love to be outdoors, so chickens fit. Also, I love to garden and chickens make great fertilizer. We have 2 dogs (Golden Retriever and a Great Pyrenese). We both work full-time in the printing industry, but when we're not working just love to be on the homestead or at the beach.
