The breeder may very well know his own stock, and perhaps he is accustomed to late maturing cockerels, and this bird may be male.

I enjoyed hearing how your RIR is keeping your Dominickers in line, and how the little pullets are treated more gently than the cockerels. I hope you are not disappointed that she is a hen. She is very beautiful.
