I've been so busy reading information on this wonderful website about incubating eggs, different breeds, etc., that I haven't taken the time to introduce myself and to say hello to all of the BYCer's that make this website so helpful. It's so nice that there are other people out there that are just as crazy about chickens as me. I have always loved all kinds of birds, so my love for chickens was very natural. I love the different varieties and would like to have 2 or 3 of almost every variety, although not realistic. I love loading my incubator up so I can watch and wait for the miraculous day that they start to hatch (which requires staying up all night long
). I have 50 chicks now, and it's a lot of work (labor of love
) caring for this many chicks. Presently, I have one incubator full and will load another one as soon as I receive my other eggs in the mail this week (as I question my sanity).
I am so excited because I received my order from BYC's store today, which consists of BYC's official book 'Raising Chickens for Dummies', a BYC 'Got Chickens' t-shirt, some magnetic and adhesive bumper stickers and Golden Feather Membership
. BYC Store has a great deal on the 'Raising Chickens for Dummies' book now--$5 rebate--and Golden Feather Membership is also discounted. What a great deal!!! Thanks BYC store!!!
I am currently burning my candle at both ends, but hope to have more time to participate in the forums when everything at home slows down. We have a new Great Pyrenees puppy, which requires a lot of time and patience--and there is always someone, whether human or animal, that needs to be fed, watered or something complicated that takes a lot of time. It makes me feel like this
