I'm new to the forum, but not to chickens. I grew up eating no-longer-productive hens for dinner every Sunday. I raised some easter eggers one time for my son when he was young, and now I'll be doing the same for my granddaughter. I am getting a mixed bag from Mt Healthy in about a month, (it's still freezing up here) so I'm sure I'll be checking in on the forum from day 1.
I'm a retired school teacher, so I will have lots of time to devote to the newest members of the household.
