My name is Joe and I live in Eugene, Oregon. I am going to follow the suggested topics provided by BYC for my introduction:
1. I am very new to chickens, I have been wanting to get some chickens for about the last two years, I have a good friend with a farm who sells chickens but for some reason, we could never make it happen so was in a farm store this week and they had chicks for sale so I bought a few.
2/3. So, I have ten young chicks and three hens. Here is what I have: 3 Buff Orpingtons (the hens); 2 Bovan Browns, 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Rhode Islands, 2 Saphire Gems and 2 Dominant Coppers
4. Not really sure what my favorite thing is about raising chickens yet, way too soon, we love watching them, that's for sure
5. My hobbies include camping, woodworking, and photography
6. I am remarried to my also remarried wife, Trish, together we have five boys. We have two Havanese dogs, really enjoying them. I am a retired Naval Officer, my trade was as a Health Care Executive. Since retiring I have been a sports photographer for the last 15 years.
7. I found BYC after asking a question on the net and it referred me to your site where someone else had asked the same question and it was masterfully answered. I started looking over the site at other questions and realized this is a place I would be happy to be a part of if they will have me.
Nice to be here, looking forward to making some new friends here and learning more about caring for chickens.
