Welcome. Yes, you and your bride do qualify as chicken farmers. You wrote one of the best intros I have read in a while. You did a great job on your coop and your chickens are very pretty.

My two cents: I would move the coop to ground. I say this because whatever you put on it - the chickens will always arrive to the ground, in your current state- the concrete. They like to dig to forage and to dust bath. What most of us do for digging predator protection is make an apron around our coops and runs. It is when you take 18-24 inches of hardware cloth and attach it to the bottom walls hardware cloth and run it on the ground out 18-24 inches. You can cover it with dirt or rocks, etc...I can take a picture of mine if you want me to.
