Hi there from South Dakota!
I am new to this site but have been reading it for a while. Last year my flock of chickens I had raised from eggs and my two ducks were destroyed from one angry mink. I have finally overcome the trauma and chose to start again but this time start with adult birds. My one hen hatched a bunch of chicks so I had no choice but to get attached all over again. This is my first year having my hens produce eggs.
Anyways the reason I joined today is because one of my ducks (an Indian running duck) has a swollen leg and the foot is now dark colored. I found a string wrapped around the "healthy" leg today so I'm wondering if that's what caused the problem with the other leg. I am worried this might be dry gangrene. Wondering if there is something I can do for the duck. Have called around to the local veterinarians but I can't really afford to spend a lot of money on this duck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks! I look forward to seeing how this site works!
