Hello, everyone! I'm CyberCountry, but you can call me Zee. I'll get along to putting up an avatar and all that fancy-shmancy forum malarky in a bit.
I like the neat little introductory template, so I'll take a gander. (I'm already starting with the poultry puns. This isn't a good sign.)
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Nope! I've been a crazy-chicken-person for about ten years now. I started as a youth member of my county's only 4-H poultry club with a small 4-bird flock. I quickly took officer ranks as the years went on, and even after I aged out I decided that the chicken life was for me!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I just gave away the last of my old flock (I had ten 6 year old hens and one male rescue duck who were better suited to hang out with a veterinarian as pets than in my younger flock) and currently am eagerly waiting the last two weeks before my Murray McMurray order comes in with 16 new babies.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Well, the order I just placed includes red stars, golden wyandottes, delawares, barred rocks, buff orpingtons, polishes, jersey giants, amarucanas and whatever mystery chick Murray decides to fling my way. In the past I've had Cochins (personal favourite), seabrights, and RIRs. I'm hoping to get a bantam cochin pullet to add to my flock at some point. I miss having the tiny puffballs around.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I was bored and googled the mystery chicks from mcmurray to see if anyone was talking about their surprises. I stumbled across a nearly 3-year-old thread on this page and decided to sign up.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm something of an amateur artist.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Well, I have something of a zoo of animals. Cats, dogs, fish, rabbits, snakes, chickens, the works. I work as a nurse's aide in a nursing home. Other than that, I'm very into science fiction (if you can't tell by the username).
That's about it for me. It's a pleasure to meet all of you!
