In the Brooder
Hey guys, new to being a chicken mom but have skulked on a few FB chicken groups for awhile. We've talked about chickens for years and after moving to the remote NT and eggs being $8.50 a dozen we finally pulled the pin and were surprised to find a wonderfully generous local who sold us some week olds. We have 8 'chooks' who are about 5-6 weeks old now and I suspect at least 2 of them are roos.
Hubby is working on a black soldier fly bin project and I've started a worm bin. I'm very interested in creating a maggot bucket which is how I found this group (cheers for that post Glenda). I have watermelon and rockmelon growing from seeds for special treats as well as a few other things.
All the chooks look like standard astralorpys with the exception of one which looks very different to the rest. Was planning on giving all my girls very old fashioned traditional names. Alberta, Agnus, Beryl, Glady & Gloria.
