Please forgive me. I'm going to be lazy and use the intro template. 😊

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I grew up with raising chickens and selling eggs. Our neighbors across the street had a small dairy, so we traded eggs for fresh milk. I've had chickens off and on my entire adult life. I went a couple years without when we moved to a new home and had a huge predator problem. We're just starting up once again.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

We have 21 walking around and 29 (?) incubating at day 19.

(3) What breeds do you have?

In the coop:
6 Sapphire Gem pullets
4 Barred Rock pullets
3 RIR pullets
3 Starlight OE pullets
2 BC Maran pullets
1 Golden Polish pullet
2 Silkies - 1 roo and 1 hen

In the hatcher:
12 Golden Polish
5 Silver Polish
6 Buff Orpingtons
6 Chocolate Orpingtons

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

My favorite aspects are hatching chicks, watching my girls happily scratch around their yard and scooping up the ones that come asking to be cuddled.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I love traveling, cooking, photography and spending time with my guys, my goats and my chickens.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I have three adult kids, and live with my son as well as my Partner in Crime. We have two pit bulls, a Russian tortoise, a bearded dragon, six goats and the chickens. I am a professional photographer as is my Partner, and he also drives OTR. My son is a machinist and works nights, so I don't see a lot of either of them.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I ran across BYC some years ago, probably 10 or so? At the time, I was moderating for HorseCity.com (owned by Western Horseman,) and didn't have enough bandwidth to do too much at one time online.

I've read a lot of questions and answers since first finding BYC, and decided it was time to join up and join in.
