Hi, I am new, duh, and wanted to introduce myself.
I am graduating from college and want to start making money with my family's hobby farm. I have been working on my own hybrid strain of green eggs I call REELs - "rooke's easter egg layers" - that's been a work in progress and it's working well. There isn't so much a higher demand for green eggs, it is what I want to use to set me apart from the rest of the egg sellers in the area. There are tons of people making a buck on Craig's List, or at least I assume they are as I am not. There doesn't seem to be too many people selling at the farmer's markets and that is my goal. I am wanting to become an LLC and get the Oregon egg handler's license so I can get into a co-op in Portland or sell at the farmer's markets. However they cost $30+/day and right now I don't have the production for that or the outlet for eggs during the non-FM season. I hope to have other novelties like chocolate brown eggs and other species, but I have to learn how to sex first to start weeding out my boys. Anyone know of a youtube video on that or something?
I am hoping to learn from you guys how to become more successful as a farmer and a chicken raiser.

uuuuuu!!! I would go with americaunas too....if you can get them now! I have been searching EVERYWHERE and haven't found any. The hatchery Lazy 54 in Hubbard will have them, but not until the middle of June. I might wait for that. Green eggs, it doesn't get much better than that!
